Since its creation, DundeeWealth has used considered, strategic acquisitions as one of several tools to expand its investment management and advisory businesses by finding new distribution partners in key growth territories. The animated film below highlights ten years of growth through acquisitions at DundeeWealth.
DundeeWealth was created in 1998 when Dundee Corporation - our one-time parent company - began the long-term strategic evolution of its core investment management business in order to compete more effectively in the financial services industry. The goal was to create a diversified and fully integrated wealth management business combining product development, investment management and distribution that could leverage the strengths that each of those businesses afforded the others.
Dundee Corporation's investment management and financial planning businesses were merged with the creation of DundeeWealth in 1998 and since that time, DundeeWealth has been actively pursuing its stated strategy of being a successful integrated wealth management company, one committed to financial advice and to being a partner in growing our clients' wealth.
In 2010, Scotiabank, then a minority shareholder, agreed to make an offer for all of the common shares of DundeeWealth that it did not own. In 2011, DundeeWealth became a wholly owned subsidiary of Scotiabank.
